Welcome!
Here are the key Standard deck building rules in Magic the Gathering:
Deck Size:
-
Your main deck must contain a minimum of 60 cards. It's generally
recommended to have exactly 60 cards for optimal performance.
-
You can have an optional sideboard of up to 15 cards. These cards
are not used during the game itself but can be swapped in and out of
your main deck between matches in a best-of-three format.
Card Limits:
-
You cannot have more than 4 copies of any card with the same name in
your entire 75-card deck (main deck + sideboard), except for basic
lands.
-
Basic lands (Plains, Island, Swamp, Mountain, Forest) are the only
cards you can have more than 4 copies of.
Standard Legal Sets:
-
Standard is a rotating format, meaning only cards from the most
recent sets are legal for play.
-
Four times a year, with the release of the fall set, the four oldest
Standard sets rotate out.
-
You can find the currently legal sets on the official Wizards of the
Coast website:
